Anxiety Management Through Oral Conscious Sedation

Sometimes patients experience levels of dental anxiety that prevent them from having even the most basic oral hygiene routinely performed, opening them up to the possibility for further complication in their oral health. Dr. Yoshikane not only is an expert in helping patients with their anxiety management, he also provides post-graduate continuing  education and in-office mentorship for oral sedation and implant placement and restoration to his peers.

One way Dr. Yoshikane helps his patients address their level of anxiety is to offer oral conscious sedation. Select oral medication is provided prior to treatment in order to induce a moderate state of sedation. Though oral sedatives do not cause sleep, they usually dull the senses. This means that most patients cannot remember the pain, smells or noises associated with the procedure. Usually, a dose of medication is taken prior to the appointment and then adjusted as necessary during the procedure.

Dr. Yoshikane is an expert in using oral conscious sedation to give this select group of patients the best care possible and helping them achieve their best smiles. If you have been hesitating having regular hygiene appointments or more detailed treatments completed, please call our office to schedule a time to speak with Dr. Yoshikane.
